Overall Strengths: Mackenzie has a great personality and sense of humor that allows her to interact very well with patients, other students, and staff. Throughout the semester she has done a great job of engaging herself in her clinical experience and has done an excellent job of putting herself into situations to further her educational experience. She carries herself with a lot of maturity, especially when you consider she is only a 1st semester student. We have been impressed by her ability to integrate the skills that she already knows and her willingness to accept challenges and pushed out of her comfort zone. Her taping has improved significantly, though this can also be said about all her clinical skills. Overall Weaknesses: None noted... She's doing a great job and if she can stay on this trajectory for her remaining semesters, she's going to make an excellent athletic trainer. Comments: We've really enjoyed having Mackenzie at Calvin College this semester. She's doing a really good job, considering she's only a first semester student. We'd encourage her to work on the following next semester: 1. Improve knowledge and familiarity with injury evaluation process... Continue to solidify those skills she already has. 2. Continue to ask for assignments from your clinical instructor (i.e. rehabs, specific patients, etc.) and take ownership in them.
