Personal Project

What is the Personal Project?

An expression of your unique talents!

What FOUR Components?

The key is in the planning!

What Global Contexts?

Giving a whole new meaning to education!

The personal project is the culminating project for Grade 10, also known as MYP Year 5, and it explores a personal passion rather than a topic a teacher sets for you to do. Your inspiration may come from a journal prompt, a brainstorming session, a personal life experience, or an extension of a project you completed in a class. The project is monitored with the assistance of a supervisor, yet it is your responsibility to complete all four components of the project. The topic of your project should be clearly focused on an issue or theme closely related to one of the global contexts. Your research must be welldocumented and reflect your product/outcome. Remember you will be working on this project for an extended period of time, so choose something you truly want to do. Every student in MYP 5 must submit their personal Project for assessment. It is assessed separately and has its own section on the report card.

1. The Product There are two types of products: Something you do Something you make 2. The Process Journal or Portfolio The process journal/portfolio is a written diary of the process of your project from before it begins up to the preparation for the presentation. 3. The Project Report The project report paper provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate your research and writing skills. It is important as a student that you develop your writing skills and the bulk of your report will be researchbased. You will be required to include information and analysis of your process from beginning to end. 4. The Presentation/ Exhibition The presentation is your opportunity to provide an overview of your experience with the personal project to a panel of assessors. This group will consist of members of Emirates National Schools Abu Dhabi City Campus staff.
