Rev. John Baker I.aird, D. D. 1866 - 1953 Rev, John B.

Laird came to Frankford in 1895 after his graduation from Lafayette College and Princeton Theological Seminary, and for the next 51 years was pastor of the historic Presbyterian Church of Frankford. - in addition to his many local and city-wide church responsibilities, throughout his long life he actively took part in every community effort to enhance the spiritual, educational and physical welfare of people. Following the granting of a Charter to five physicians for the establishment of the Frankford Hospital in 1903, Dr.taird accepted every opportunity to be of service to this much needed institution. In 1908 when the new Hospital Building was dedicated at Frankford Ave. and ,Wakeling street, he made the address, and since then has had a part in the building and dedication of each new addition to the Hospital. He was made an Honorary Trustee, and in 1930 accepted the responsibility of an active trusteeship. He seldom missed a Board Meeting. In appreciation of his constructive life in so many fields and particularly for his interest and helpfulness in the building and management of the Frankford Hospital, this minute is recorded in the permanent records. The Secretary was instructed to send a copy of this minute to Miss Hazel Laird, niece of Dr. Laird, and also to send a copy to the newspapers in the community. Editor of The GazetteI do very much appreciate your mailing me some copies of the Gazette of Sept.' 4. Some old members of the Frankford Presbyterian Church, who have moved away, will be so glad to read about their old pastor, Rev. John B. Laird, in other cities. He was a man who can't be forgotten, and it is splendid to have a paper which gives him such a well-deserved tribute. Not only his church, but the entire community can always cherish his memory. Very sincerely yours, Julia S. Lovett.
