Kimberly Vega Molina INGL 3101 LD1 The percentage of bilinguals is definitely on the rise.

It was 11 percent in 1980, 14 percent in 1990, to reach close to 20 percent currently. According to Francois Grosjean, Bilingualism in the United States has traditionally been transitionala passage, over one or two generations. However, there is an increasing awareness that the countries knowledge of the languages of the world is a natural resource that should not be wasted. Also, sometimes when people move to other countries they do not dominate well the language of the country they are moving to. Anyone who knows one than more language has the opportunity to be a better professional and develop better on their daily basis. Learning one or more languages will help you to have a better future. First being bilingual will bring you more work opportunities. When people look for jobs and there bilingual is one of the most powerful advantages they have because they would have the versatility to talk with customers and other workers from other countries. Second, will help you have a better economic support. For example, a secretary that knows one or more languages have the opportunity to earn more economic support than a secretary that only knows to speak one language. Finally, this is going to help you communicate better with people from other cultures. Spanish and Japanese have nothing in common each language have different scripts and it is very difficult to communicate that is why we should learn other languages to communicate with people from other cultures.

People can be more efficient than those who know only one language. Bilingual people are going to be able to communicate with people who speak different languages, as they sell or take orders worldwide. Being bilingual is important for three reasons, the first one is because you can get a better job, the second one is because you can get a higher salary and the third reason is that you can learn more from other cultures and different people. I encourage you to consider learning another language. Over all, being bilingual offers personal and professional benefits way beyond any expectations.
