MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

Name: Erica Williams PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an audience that will use or care about the results. Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed:

Brief Description of Learning Experience: What learning standards will be addressed? What will students and teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work? Teacher will show a video about the phases of the moon. Then the teacher will have a small lecture on the phases of the moon. The next day the teacher will bring in oreo cookies and have the students show the different phases of the moon with the oreo cookies. While the students a discussing and doing the assignment the teacher will record the students. The teacher will post on her blog for parents and friends to see the students knowledge of the phases of the moon. Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? Which indicators of Engaged Learning are strong and why? This will be a level 4. The students will be recorded and published of their knowledge of the phases of the moon. Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience? The project could not be done without the technology. The purpose of recording is to show others how you can discuss the phases of the moon a creative way with food.
