State and local governments work together to run schools, police departments, libraries, and parks State governments are divided into 3 different branches just like the national government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial

The governor is the leader of each state government.

Legislative:
This branch makes the state laws and handles the state money.

This branch is made up of a supreme court and lower courts.
