Was the student prepared for the position with sufficiently developed oral/written skills?
Yes, Niki was very prepared for the position. Her oral skills are impressive, and her written skills are strong. From writing social media posts and memos to communicating with store managers and mall personnel, Niki came into the position with skills that enabled her to perform these tasks adequately. I have also seen her skills continue to grow and expand throughout her employment at West Acres. Niki is very good at adapting her oral and written skills appropriately to different situations. Niki has mastered the voice and brand of West Acres, which is not an easy task.
Supervisor Evaluation Page 3 of 4 4. How much did the student learn from on-the-job tasks?
Niki has grown professionally and personally throughout her time at West Acres. Her productivity has increased, and her industry knowledge continues to expand. She seems to become more comfortable and confident in her work each day. (Although it should be noted that she did start very confident.) Niki is eager to learn, and she has been a sponge for on the job information. She has also been being able to take items from work and relate them to class and vice versa.
5. How did the student apply knowledge and skills unique to a communication background or connect job tasks to his or her classroom education?
As part of her job, Niki is in charge of putting together social media posts for West Acres. She communicates with our fan baseon on fan base a daily basis. In addition, much of her job has to do with communicating to stores about marketing opportunities including photo shoots, social media posts and events. Niki communicates with the stores through all outlets: phone, email, in person, and written memos. Niki also creates in-mall signage, which is an important way of communicating with our customers.
6. In what ways is this student ready or unready to function as an independent professional in your field?
Niki is very prepared to function professionally in marketing, communications and retail (in the shopping center development/management industry). She could jump in full time at this point with no issues. I believe she will continue to grow and succeed allowing her to move up the professional ladder.
