All students commence the exam with no marks and then marks are gained during the exam process as certain requirements are met and competencies are demonstrated. The following list is not exhaustive, but is a starting point for you to reflect upon your OSCE performance. Please make notes on this sheet as you reflect. Be prepared to comment on these areas plus others during your feedback session. Bring this form with you to the feedback session. Students were expected to pick up on a number of cues and demonstrate safe practice in a number of areas including the following: 1. Did not attend to hand washing infection control 2. Did not build therapeutic relationship Did not elicit any information from patient Waited for patient to ask questions Missed multiple cues from patient Unprofessional behaviour - manner, demeanour, way patient addressed by nurse 3. Poor communication Did not listen to the patient Did not respond appropriately to the patient Inappropriate questioning of patient Inappropriate body language Gave unwanted advice Pushing unwanted services on patient on d/c Only offered services from MDT as a d/c plan, no other plan discussed with patient Recommending patient put in nursing home 4. Poor knowledge regarding CHF / APO Inappropriate encouragement of fluids Poor description given to patient when asked about condition Unable to answer patient questions regarding soup Unable to answer patient questions regarding daily weigh 5. Unsafe Medication practice Poor general knowledge regarding medications Giving advice to patient when lacking knowledge, rather than saying will get back to patient after looking up 6. Lack of any discussion regarding / demonstration of patient assessment 7. Did not speak during planning time
