About gay adoption

Scandal of Adoption
In the United States, approximately 400,000 are in out-of-home care daily. On average a child . remains nearly two years in a foster home. The average age of the children in foster care is 9 years old and above. 15% of the children in foster care have been there for 5 years or more.
Approximately half of all children in foster homes have chronic medical conditions. Nearly half the children under 5 years old in foster care have developmental delays. Up to 80% of all children in foster care have serious emotional problems.
In 2011, 11 percent of the children (over 26,000) exiting foster care aged out of the system. Research has shown that teens aging out of the system are highly likely as adults to experience homelessness, poor health, unemployment, incarceration, and other poor outcomes.

Gay v. Straight Parenting What most people argue about gay adoption is if a child has gay parents, the child will also grow up to be homosexual. Although, this may sound somewhat logical, there is no conclusive evidence that proves this. On the other hand, a group of psychologists from UCLA, conducted a research were children were placed with homosexual and heterosexual parents. After a couple of years the children that had been placed with homosexual parents, ended up showing very similar behavior as to those who were with heterosexual parents. As this experiment illustrated children will discover their own sexual identity, regardless if their parents are gay or not. It is also proven that heterosexual marriages have a higher divorce rate than homosexual marriages. Perhaps, if children are placed in homosexual families, they will live in a more stable household.

How does gay adoption help?

As you can see there are many children in need of loving parents who will support and love them. Here is where gay adoption comes into play. For children in foster homes, it is not if they have straight or gay parents, its either they go to their new home or they stay in a foster home. Gay adoption is helpful because homosexuals would be an option for those children who stay in foster homes for a longer time (usually older children or children with disabilities). Each person who is against gay adoption should reconsider their point of view because the futures of orphan children depend on whether gays adopt or not.
