Standards: Goal 4.1: Apply concepts of size, shape, and spatial relationships. 1.M.4.1.3 Use appropriate vocabulary. (271.01.d) Objective: Recognize, name, find and draw the shape Materials: pattern blocks, 2 shape worksheets, different shapes around the room, pencil Assignment: 1. Show shapes and see what shapes students know 3 min.

2. Go through all the shapes and how many sides each one has: triangle, square, circle, rectangle, hexagon, diamond, and trapezoid. 20 min. 3. Hand out the first shapes worksheet, Shape Walk. They walk around the classroom, find the different shapes, and draw it on the worksheets. 10 min 4. As they finish the first worksheet hand out the second one, the shape man. 5. Go over the worksheets and see what everyone got for both worksheets. 6. Clean up 2 min 10 min 5 min

Review the shapes and how many sides each one has 2. Hand out pattern blocks to each student 5 min 2 min

3. Go though how the shapes can be put together to make pictures and have them do it with you. 15 min 4. Hand out the 3 pattern worksheets, they need to match the shapes and glue them down. 15 min 5. After they are done they can create their own shapes/ pictures and see how each shape works with other shapes. 10 min 6. Clean up 3 min

(271.01.d) Objective: 1. Recognize, and naming the shapes 2. See shapes with in other shapes Materials needed: Pattern blocks, pattern block worksheet, pencil Assignment: 1. Review shapes and how many sides each has 2. Hand out pattern blocks and worksheet 5 min 2 min

3. Go though how the shapes can be put together to make other shapes and have them do it with you. Show how triangles can be used in a square, diamond, trapezoid, and hexagon. Show how a trapezoid can also create a hexagon. Go through the rest to see what else can be done. have children do it with you 20 min 4. Start with having the children just fill in the shapes, talk about how everyone could of done it differently, then have them clear off the paper. Next have them fill both shapes with the least amount of blocks used (walk around to make sure students understand). Then ask how many blocks they used for each pattern. Finally have the students fill the blocks in with the most amount of blocks, then go over everyone's answers. 20 min 5. Clean up 3 min

(271.01.d) Objective: 1.Understanding how the shapes can make a picture 2. Know and recognize the shapes Materials: Pattern blocks, worksheet (shape picture), coloring tools and pencil Assignment: 1. Hand out pattern blocks and worksheet 2 min 10 min

2. Review over how the shapes work together and the shapes

3. On the worksheet the first picture you can only use 5 blocks to create a picture. Trace on to the worksheet. (can add smaller details later on) 5 min 4.For the second box create a picture with 10 blocks and trace on to paper (details add later) 5 min 5. Final box can create something with as many blocks as they can and trace on to paper 10 min 6. Now they are able to add all the smaller details if they would like and color them 7. They can show the class what they came up with for their pictures 8. Clean up 3 min 5 min 10 min

Working in centers skills Materials needed: Shape quiz, pattern blocks, blank pattern block sheets (just outline), patter block sheets with the shapes shown, pencils Assignment: 1. Hand out quiz and have them take it 2. Go over quiz with them 5 min 10-15 min

3. Explain the 3 centers, one Create your own picture with patter blocks, Fill in the pattern block worksheet with the correct shape, and finally just fill in the pattern block shape. 4. Separate students in to 3 groups and assign were each group starts at 2 min

5. They get 10 min at each station, before moving on to next one they need to clean up and leave it the way they found it 30 min 6. Clean up the room 3 min
