PATHOLOGY OF CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

Microspecimens.
181. Coronary arteries thrombosis in atherosclerosis (H.E).
An atheroma or atheromatous plaque consists of a raised focal lesion initiating within the
intima, having a core of lipid (mainly cholesterol and cholesterol esters), covered by a firm,
fibrous cap. The vascular lumen is significantly narrowed by thrombotic masses. The
neighbouring cardiomyocites are with degenerative changes.
67. Microfocal cardiosclerosis (picrofucsin, van Gieson stain).
Most muscle calls are hypertrophied with enlarged nuclei, but many are attenuated or
stretched . interstitial and endocardial fibrosis of variable degree is present.
64. Arteriolosclerotic nephrosclerosis (H.E.).
It shows signs of diffuse ischemic atrophy with crowded glomeruli, etrophic tubules,
interstitial fibrosis, and focal inflammatory infiltrate.

Macrospecimens

3. Atherosclerosis of the aorta (parietal thrombosis).

14. Aortic aneurysm.
121. Hemorrhage into the brain.
9. Acute myocardial infarction
10. Chronic cardiac aneurism with thrombosis.
83. Wrinkled kidney.
