2. Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall effectiveness of instruction and the use of developmentally appropriate strategies.

Brittany has had some difficulty with planning her own lessons. For example, she did not use the curriculum guide (printed out for her) to help make plans for economics. She also had to be reminded to use technology in her lessons. She did not find many things on her own. She shared with me that first grade has been a harder "fit" than fourth grade. She also informed me that this is her first experience really being in charged of building her own lesson plans. Although, I offered assistance every day, she had few questions and only a few ideas of her own to share.

Brittany has made great improvement with leading the class. She has found a more "teacher-like" voice that usually gets their attention. She has learned techniques like "touch your nose if you know the answer," rather than having all students "call-out" answers.

2. Please comment on the teacher candidate's development and implementation of student assessments and evaluations.

Brittany does a better job assessing behavior than academics. She has made improvement with holding students responsible for their behavior. She marks their behavior calendar daily. She still needs to improve grading and recording daily work. I have explained that this is the only way we know which children have completed work and which ones need remediation on skills.
