Functions
The following table gives the jersey number and weight of several Page High School football players. Jersey Number 1 3 8 11 12 18 21 30 35 54 58 69 70 Weight 180 180 180 165 165 190 165 160 220 265 215 210 195 1. If jersey numbers represent the domain and the weights represent the range, does the relation represent a function? Why or why not?

2. If the weights represent the domain and the jersey numbers represent the range, does the relation represent a function? Why or why not?

Systems of Equations
1. Solve the following system of equations by graphing. Check your work. y 2x = -3 2y = -2x + 12

2. Solve the following system of equations using substitution. Check your work. 2x y = 2 3x 2y = 11

3. Solve the following system of equations using elimination. Check your work. 2x + 6y = - 8 5x 3y = 8

Classify each system of equations as consistent/inconsistent, and as dependent/independent.

4. 7x y = - 11 3y = 21x + 33

5. x + 4 = y 5y = 5x + 35

6. Solve the following system of equations:

x + 2y 3z = -2 2x 2y + z = 7 x + y + 2z = -4

Linear Programming
1. Lights On makes two types of lamps with stained glass shades. Each floor lamp yields a profit of $40 and each desk lamp yields a profit of $30. Each floor lamp takes 1 hour to wire and 2 hours to decorate. Each desk lamp takes 2 hours to wire and 3 hours to decorate. The wiring shop operates for 11 hours each day and the decorating shop operates for 18 hours each day. How many of each type of lamp should be made each day to maximize the companys profits? How much will the company make from that amount of lamps?

2. Suppose that Lights Ons floor lamp was recently favorably reviewed by a magazine called Homes Today. The endorsement of the magazine allowed the company to increase the price of their floor lamps by $20, so that their profit on the model is now $60. How many lamps should be produced each day to maximize the companys profits if the desk lamp model still produces $30 of profit?
