Grade Level Seniors

What is NOT eligible for retakes Classwork Homework: Late HW will be accepted, with points deducted by day, 10 points per day

What IS eligible for retakes All summative exams are eligible for retakes in non-AP courses At least one quiz per skill should have been given to assess student mastery (and retakes offered) before a unit test is given Unit tests are not eligible for retakes in AP courses to mirror college-readiness for assessment and encourage appropriate use of data to inform instructional decisions Seniors can be exempted from unit tests during the 3rd trimester if o they have an A average on all skills assessed on that test o they earn at least 2 service hours tutoring classmates All summative exams are eligible for retakes Juniors can be exempted from unit tests if o they have an A average on all skills assessed on that test o they earn at least 2 service hours tutoring classmates

Student requirements for retakes Genuine effort must be given on the FIRST assignment. Students who submit summative assessments with no evidence of an effort to pass will not be eligible for retakes. Student must show evidence of active participation in lectures associated with summative assessment: o Class notes o Homework assignments o Attend one tutorial OR be tutored by a peer Peer tutors MUST be teacher approved (first tutorial in teachers presence for feedback and support; continued tutorials in teacher presence until released) All peer tutors must hold their first tutorial session with teacher monitoring Retakes will be limited by grading period o 1st and 2nd Trimester: 3 retakes per 6 weeks, 1 per assessment This will be added to the demerit card and tracked per class. Students who lose their demerit cards are ineligible for retakes in all classes until the next grading cycle. o 3rd trimester: 1 retake per 6 weeks Retakes are mandatory for all failing grades: o Summative assessments with scores below 70 must be signed by a parent. This grade should be accompanied by: the students current grade in the class as impacted by this assessment, and when the teacher is available for tutorials. DY1-P teachers should add this component to their current student tracker. Decisions left to content teams/individual teachers: Will you offer only ONE date per skill tutorial, or will you have open tutorial time where you tutor for any skill? Will you have a SET DATE for each retake opportunity, or will you allow students to complete retakes at any time within the allowed window for grade changes (one grading period)?
