SWOT

S:
The site just one street away from Canandaigua water front Close to downtown area Downtown has a relatively pedestrian friendly road system Strong mountain scenic views There is bus service Mostly flat topography, less grade to change Large variety of vegetation and habitats in space Concert events taking place on lawn Direct connection to local restaurants along South Main Street

W:
The site is been surrounded by high traffic street Most of the intersection along the way to downtown is not pedestrian friendly, especially the intersection between S Main St and Western Blvd The distance between the site and downtown is embarrasing: not within ten minute walk, too near to use car...(trolley line might help Lake front is lake of service like food No sign for the bus stop Only downtown has a relatively pedestrian friendly road system, so it is hardly to be connect by sidewalk or biking

O:
The site is barely developed, so has large potential The site could serve as a junction between downtown and lake front A great opportunity to improve upon the existing bus service South Main St has great opportunities for outdoor dinning A huge opportunity for water recreation Great water and mountain views from site Relationship of different outdoor activities from site to lake front Plenty of vegetation and habitats to be developed into flourishing communities Large space for many more community based events Can be guided through space during nighttime by traffic lights and street lamps

T:
The new design might block the view to the lake The new design might competes with the downtown commericial zone The proposed design is lack of identity If the site and downtown is barely connected by pedestrian or bus, there would be two parking area at relatively closed proximity If the traffic is not been divert from Main st, the noise made by the car will be a huge threat to the street activities like outdoor dinning Canandaigua Lake is hardly connected to other river or lake system, its barely used for transportation Removal of local restaurants within site, thus lowering amount of customers

BUS SERVICE IN NEW ZEALAND

Paihia

From the position of a seat in a bus, one can either/or have a direct view and become blocked by another

F THE BUS RIDERS VIEWS O

Hop On Hop Off is a new term about stepping onto and off a tour bus whenever desired. This form of travel is already being widely used in many cities worldwide, but is now moving into a country wide tour bus expedition. One of the first countries starting to utilize this program is New Zealand and they have three main bus companies called Stray, Magic and Kiwi Experience. These three bus companies organize tours all over the country in order to gain a larger tourism following. Most of the stops from each bus indicate a tourist attraction and/or activity for users to enjoy during the trip. This form of travel tourism is not only just a new way to view New Zealand as a country and as a tourist, but it is also an entirely different way to look at public transportation and how to get from one location to the next while also receiving some educational information on each area.

Applying to Canandaigua With the use of a hop on hop off system in Canandaigua, people can move freely between sites all over the town and meet new visitors and travelers this way. In terms of tourism, each hop on hop off site can also have a specific activity or entertainment feature that can lead and encourage visitors to explore. From those points of action, Canandaigua will have more of a bustling and moving purpose to its small town atmosphere.

MOVEMENT AND NETWORKS (FINGER LAKE )

81 81

81

This map displays the regional transportation movement across the Finger Lakes area. Focusing on our site in the town of Canandaigua, various insterstates and major roads create paths to and from the town all over the state of New York. Some of these larger cities include Syracuse and Rochester and some of the other notable towns near Canandaigua include Seneca Falls, Geneva, Skaneateles, Auburn and Batavia. As for public transport, many state traveled buses from Greyhound visit the majority of these towns and cities, but not Canandaigua. Regardless, there is still an influx of vehicle travel between Canandaigua to many of these areas and hours spent within most rides range from 50 minutes to 12 hours.
