Introduction - Here for the next five weeks - Expectations? Silence while tuning, eyes and ears, efficient rehearsals. - What well be working on. A piece we started last time, a new one Ive been working on since Ive been gone You Found Me - Were going to continue on with this piece, do you have a memory of it? - next week well be starting something new as well that Im working on - find your copy and when you do, I want you to remind yourself of the structure look at your D.S. signs, Codas etc. - Has anyone NOT got this piece anymore? If you need a part, come and get one from me. Whole-Class run-through - Revise the structure where do we go? - D.S. at bar 20. TO CODA end of 26 D.S. Al Coda end of 27 CODA bar 38. - Play through to double bar line at end of 37, go back to bar 20, end of bar 26 go to CODA at 38. - First well run the whole thing from the top to the bottom and then break up into instrument groups. - But first any questions at all? - If it completely falls apart: troubleshoot Sectional Rehearsal - Break up into your groups - Guitars and bass, drums and percussion, keyboards/pianos, brass/woodwind, vocals - NO INSTRUMENTS - This is where each group does their troubleshooting if there is a point at which you get lost work it out. If theres a chord or phrase you cant quite get. If theres a rhythm thats tricky talk to each other about it, clap it out. - I will be watching and circulating the room - If have everything perfect, let me know I want to see it. Whole-Class - Run through it again - Troubleshoot for next week things to practice Pack up time! You know what you need to do. - Spare time? Discuss next piece. Misbehaving Class Contingency - Theory time. Writing out the primary triads. Then the secondary. In many keys. Emergency Activity - Emergency activity: if there are no instruments: rhythmic coordination: Cups o Teach at least 6 students the cups percussion line no instrumental skill required! o The singers will practise the lyrics if they dont know them already o Guitar players and two pianists will learn the simple chord progression o The students will play the first time through tutti, and then the we will work on the piece as a rhythmic round Divide into three groups of 2, rounds are one bar apart o If the singers already know the lyrics, they can work on learning the rhythmic part and performing it simultaneously o If some students already know the percussive line, then the class will be split and it will be their job to teach their classmates
