Letter of Recommendation for Natalie Udell It is a pleasure that I write this recommendation for Natalie Udell.

Natalie is completing her second year of coteaching in our second grade where she works under the direction of a head teacher to gain practical experience while honing her teaching skills. Additionally, Natalie attends a bi-monthly professional development program run by administrators and master teachers. These meetings cover such topics as classroom management, organization, anecdotal records, assessment, and examples for teaching different subjects at the various grade levels. As a result, she is gaining a comprehensive understanding of the many components involved in being a teacher at the early childhood/ elementary level. This year Natalie has been given the added responsibility of Co-teacher liaison. Working with me and the Director of the program Natalie has had the opportunity to run professional development about daily responsibilities and this spring will be a part of the interview process for new co-teachers. As Assistant Head of the Lower School and Director of the AFTERS Program, I have observed Natalie teaching in Prekindergarten last year, currently in second grade and during our after school program, both years for grades one through three. Working with her head teacher or collaboratively with a colleague in the AFTERS Program, Natalie has demonstrated that she can share responsibilities, plan and implement lessons. These experiences have provided her with the opportunity to design and teach lessons in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies and the arts. Prior to coming to Greenwich Country Day School, Natalie received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Bucknell University. She is certified in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language in PA as well as Elementary Education in NJ. Natalies previous experiences working in education have been with elementary children with a variety of special needs. Currently, Natalie is pursuing her Masters of Arts in Teaching of English at Teachers College. Natalie has been applying her knowledge and past experiences as they relate to the ins and outs of classroom management and curriculum development in grades Pre-K through third in an independent elementary school. Natalie is comfortable in the classroom setting and demonstrates the ability to adapt to different age levels, the needs of the children as well as their energy level, which ultimately has an effect on how a lesson is delivered. Natalie takes initiative to learn all she can about a subject. As a result, Natalie has focused on designing detailed lesson plans with a defined scope and sequence that are age appropriate. Natalie is an observer in the classroom and doesnt hesitate to ask questions. Natalie has a positive attitude, she is open to feedback, and incorporates new strategies and ideas in her interactions with the children. Natalie has demonstrated a solid work ethic, professionalism, and her enthusiasm for working with children. In the past two years Natalie has exhibited her passion for young children and the importance of educating the whole child while providing differentiated experiences that meet the individual needs of the children in her classroom. Natalie is a motivated individual who will take advantage of each new experience that comes her way as she pursues her goals in the field of education.
