bindweed, make weird noises, and thankfully don't eat our laying hen flock. (?? Hi Welcome to the second half of the CSA Season! We have been busy tending to our fall crops, and putting more seeds in the ground, so we can enjoy some nice salads again in the not-so-distant future; ! After the last "incredible rains, we also have a lot of bindweed on our hands, literally!!!but fortunately most of our plants are big enough now to hold their own against the weeds pretty well!

!"#-ASS S$%ASH #ntil recently, we$ve been harvesting s%uash on a nearly daily basis, allowing them to stay nice and small "you could say &darling' , tender, and delicious! (owever, being swamped over the wee)end allowed them to grow to be *+,-ASS s%uash! -./0.C1! -lease ma)e bread or ca)e, or stuff $em with tasty goodies li)e rice, tomatoes, herbs, and peppers! &'()*S 2ur melons are still maturing, and we had the opportunity to purchase some very tasty canteloupe from good farmer !inter s"uash scarf. #or sale, $%&, let us know. friend, 3ustin ,! 3ones, who runs 3ones -roduce, outside of 4incoln! We couldn$t pass it up5enjoy! And our peach trees are still loaded with fruit, so one of your many brown bags contain those treats too! We can$t decide what we$ll do with our peaches "besides eat them right off the tree ! Some )ind of peach boo6e will probably be in the wor)s, and maybe some pies!!!

+/..ies +t$s about time, right7 2ur tomatoes are finally starting to ripen! 1he plants are &bien llena' with fruit, and the green is slowing turning into yellow, red, pin), and purple yummies! 1his wee) we can only provide one or two larger tomatoes with a handful of cherry tomatoes, but we should have them now til the frost frost "fingers crossed for no earlier than 8ovember! ! Pattypan Squash Stuffed With Corn


(could substitute zucchini!) -MARTHA ROSE SHULMAN 2 pounds pattypan squash 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (it's in season go to the
far!ers' !ar"et and get yourself so!e ears#

$ernels fro! 2 ears corn Salt and freshly ground pepper 1/% cup chopped cilantro or parsley 2 ounces (1/2 cup# freshly grated Par!esan or &ruy're cheese 1 egg 1/( cup !il" Chopped cilantro or parsley for garnish
1) Cut the pattypan squash in half along the equator) *sing grapefruit spoon scoop out the seeds in the !iddle and discard) Scoop out the flesh to +ithin 1/2 inch of the outside and finely dice) ,ightly salt the pattypan shells and let sit +hile you prepare the filling) 2) Preheat the oven to (-. degrees) /il a ba"ing dish or casserole large enough to acco!!odate the pattypan shells) () 0eat the olive oil over !ediu! heat in a large heavy s"illet) 1dd the onion) Coo" stirring often until tender about five !inutes) 1dd the diced squash and coo" stirring for four to five !inutes until tender) 1dd the corn and coo" stirring often for four !inutes until 2ust tender) 3e!ove fro! the heat and stir in the Par!esan and the cilantro or parsley) Season to taste +ith salt and pepper) %) 4ill the pattypan shells +ith the corn !ixture and arrange in the ba"ing dish) 5eat together the egg and !il" season +ith a little salt and carefully spoon a little over the corn !ixture in each filled squash) 1dd a s!all a!ount of +ater to the dish (about 1/% inch#) Cover tightly and place in the oven) 5a"e %- to -. !inutes to an hour until the squash is tender) 3e!ove fro! the heat and transfer to a platter) Serve hot or +ar! garnished +ith additional chopped cilantro or parsley) 6ariation7 Coarsely chop the corn "ernels in a food processor fitted +ith the steel blade before coo"ing) 8ield7 Serves four)

Cantaloupe Sorbet

1) 9n a s!all saucepan bring sugar and 1 cup +ater to a boil) 3educe heat to !aintain a si!!er and coo" until it thic"ens slightly about 1. !inutes) ,et cool to roo! te!perature) 9! While sugar syrup cools peel seed and cut !elon into cubes) () Whirl !elon in a blender or food processor until co!pletely and utterly pureed) 8ou +ill need to do this in batches) :ransfer each batch to a large bo+l) %) 1dd about half the sugar syrup to the pureed !elon) :aste) 9t should be a bit s+eeter than you +ant the final sorbet to taste) 1dd !ore sugar syrup about a tablespoon at a ti!e to taste) -) Cover and chill !ixture at least an hour and up to overnight) ;) 4ree<e !ixture according to !anufacturer's instructions or pour into a !etal ba"ing pan and free<e stirring every (. to ;. !inutes until fro<en)
