Abstract. In the article from the semiotic positions is investigated one of the most important
philological compositions V.K. Trediakovskiy Conversation about the orthography. . . (1748).
This analysis is based on the observance of four principles. The theoretical conclusions of Trediakovskiy about the new principles of domestic orthography and its lingual writer practice, in the rst
place, are examined in the entirety and the unity; it is in the second place, inscribed into the
context of the lingual situation of new time; thirdly, they are dismantled from the point of view
of the type of the writer behavior of philologist; fourthly, they are correlated with the ideas of
national self-determination.
