Family
In ancient times China was organized according to families. A family was like a business or a political party.

In many ways the family unit takes precedence over its

individual members. Children must learn not to answer back to their parents or other elders. It is assumed that the family as a whole will thrive and prosper if harmony prevails at home.
In other words the basic rules of obedience, moderation

and self-restraint amongst family members should be observed.


I was brought up here. I think for the Chinese, everything

can be summarized from the family, your cultural value. 26 year old male Chinese

love. Their parents usually support them. They get married (maybe while in college) and move into a rented house or apartment. They see their parents on holidays.

They ask their parents who may not approve. The first question is whether the boy can adequately support the girl now, and in the future support both sets of parents.

Some Chinese think that western families put their parents

in a nursing home, or choose not to have them live in their home with them, because they dont care for them.
Not true. Actually, since the west is more individualistic, older people

want to remain individuals & live near friends their age


to take care of parents would be limiting their freedoms
