The Battle of the Budge

The following story contains words where the letter g makes its second sound and where the consonant teams ge and dge are used.

There is a legend about the charge across this bridge. The rangers job was to engage and then dislodge the huge numbers of college students behind the hedge. The students had outrage because the student lounge was on the verge of being shut. The Board of Regents did vote to enlarge the wildlife refuge, and because of that choice, they had need of extra space. A judge with a grudge gave a rigid command: stop the students protest. The students did cringe, but they still did not budge. On came the rangers in orange who did lunge at and then engage the students in an urgent manner. Logic was lost, and the gist of the matter is that force did prevail. On that day a legend did grow about how the rangers in orange and a large number of students did engage and gouge and dodge one another. The event is called the day the orange serge did merge with a wedge of gents.

The Agent Who Asks Strange Questions

The following story contains words where the letter g makes its second sound and where the consonant teams ge and dge are used.

I did not begrudge the agent his badge. But he was so rigid and did ask me things that were not germane and had no logic. He was not a gent, nor was he gentle in his manner. He did ask such strange things not as an angel but in a turgid, urgent way. Here are some of the things he did ask me: Did I engage a girl in talk? Did I wager with the judge up on the bridge? Did I forge or enlarge or smudge any papers? Did I go to college? Did I divulge my age at the lounge? Did I exchange my wage for the chance to be at the lodge next to the huge gorge? Did I ingest fudge at the frigid barge? Did I tell the ranger that I heard about a strange legend about a charge in the sage where men did lunge and smudge and dislodge those on a vigil? Did I drop a fragile bowl of ginger? Would I rage at the staging of a magic show or trudge with a grudge and emerge and then divulge my outrage to others? This agent was a nut, not a sage.
