For this project, I have been asked to research and then emulate Edward Burtynsky by creating a mini-series of photographs inspired by his images in the monograph hina!"

Burtynsky!s primary subject through his images is an urban landscape, damaged by manufacturing" #his has ranged from ship breaking yards, to aerial shots working $uarries and from factories to scrap yards" In order to follow his original set of work, I!m aiming to photograph a selection of scrap yard photographs, each with different subjects" I will be shooting my images during the daytime around mid-afternoon, on clear and sunny days in order to utilise the natural lighting that should occur, despite the present winter temperatures"

% lot of Burtynsky!s images seem to involve slight repetition and the typical colours associated with rusting structures &i"e" shades of orange and brown'" I!m going to attempt to mimic this in my own images, which may occur in post-production editing on some occasions" (any of his photographs are also taken from high angles, including aerial shots" #his has been achieved through sitting atop high structures and machinery using a tripod to steady the image" I believe I!ll struggle with this factor, as the locations I!ve chosen may not allow me to attempt this for health and safety reasons"

%ll of the images in my chosen monograph are in colour and the vast majority are also photographed landscape, with the odd portrait image" I will be taking my images in colour, but saturating them slightly in order to emulate Burtynsky!s uni$ue style" )hen creating his images, he used a large format camera and tripod" *adly, I will be unable to access a large format camera when taking my images, so will have to take mine with a full frame camera from the +niversity!s store, or my own camera"

By the end of the project, I hope to have created a mini series of images that emulate Burtynsky!s work but e$ually, have my own personal spin" In order to achieve this, I have been doing research around the images and my selected monograph, as well as analysing photographs on Burtynsky!s portfolio in an attempt to study his style"

I will need no specialist e$uipment in order to achieve my photographs, but I will need to get into contact with yards I!m hoping to access, in order to gain entry and access safety issues"
