Interactions with other patient drugs, OTC or herbal
medicines (ask patient specifically)
May limit the cardioprotective effect of low dose aspirin, additive
adverse GI side effects with aspirin, oral potassium and other
NSAIDs, or alcohol, use with acetaminophen may increase risk of
adverse effects, may decrease effectiveness of antihypertensives or
diuretics, may slightly increase digoxin levels
Aspirin, potassium choloride, furosemide, metropolol,
acetaminophen.
Lab value alterations caused by medicine
May increase digoxin levels, BUN, serum creatinine, CBC, and liver
function tests should be evaluated periodically, serum potassium, alkaline
phosphatase, LDH, AST, ALT my show increased levels.
Be sure to teach the patient the following about this
medication
Take with full glass of water and remain upright, take as directed, may be
dizzy during activity, avoid alcohol, aspirin, acetaminophen, or OTC and
herbs without professional opinion, tell of regime before surgery, do not
take OTC Ibuprophen for more than 10 days, contact professional if
adverse effects happen.
