In this highly characteristic example, vertical fractures sometimes less than one metre apart split a layer several decametres thick, with no vertical displacement whatsoever. These types of swarm can sometimes be followed for several kilometres. If some fractures remain partially open in reservoir conditions, these swarms completely modify the reservoir permeability at kilometric scale
