EXAMPLE OF PRESSURE REDUCING/DESUPERHEATING

Yoshimine IDF using steam turbine with steam condition @ 250 psig, 506 deg F Steam source : 426 psig, 644 deg F header hs enthalpy at 426 psig, 644 deg F = 1328.9 BTU/lb hd enthalpy at 250 psig 506 deg F = 1265.5 BTU/lb hcw enthalpy of cooling water at 242 deg F 210.48 BTU/lb steam rate of IDF steam turbine - 24 lbs/HP-hr with 500 Hp steam flow requirement 12,000 lbs/hr

mass of cooling water required Mcw, Mcw = (12,000 lb/hr-Mcw)(1328.9 BTU/lb 1265.5 BTU/lb) (1265.5 BTU/lb 210.48 BTU/lb) = 679 lb/hr mass of superheated steam supplied = 12,000 679 = 11,321 lb/hr If superheated steam supplied is at 390 psig, 600 deg F, Mcw is, Mcw = 323.66 lb/hr mass of superheated steam supplied = 12,000 324 = 11,676 lb/hr
