Star DeltaStarter

Aim

To provide knowledge in star delta starter

Objectives

To familiarize the students with: About the control circuit and main circuit for star delta Starter. Operation of AC Motor Starting with star delta starter. About the control equipment for electrical motor control.

The star delta starter can only be used with a motor which is rated for Theory connection in delta operation at the required voltage, and has both ends each of the three windings available individually. At start, the line voltage is applied to one end of each of the three winding, with the other end bridged together, effectively connecting the windings in star connection.

Exercise 1: Procedure 1. The control circuit is connected as show in Figure 1. 2. The incoming votage is take from 1 of 3 line (R or Y or B) for single phase. 3. The line back to the neutral (N) is connected by using black cable. 4. The power supply in on to run the controlling circuit. 5. The operation of this control circuit is observed.

Exercise 2 : 1. The main circuit is connected as shown in figure 4.

2. The incoming supply for this circuit is from 3 phase line 415 V. 3. The Earth is connected to the 3phase motor ground. 4. The circuit is tested to make a full operation. 5. The operation star delta is observed.
