Unit 2 Equations Day 14 Lesson: Video Viewing 54 minutes

Objective: Students will share their math music video.

Standards: Common Core CCSS.Math.Content.8.EE.C.7a : Give examples of linear equations in one variable with one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. Show which of these possibilities is the case by successively transforming the given equation into simpler forms, until an equivalent equation of the form x = a, a = a, or a = b results (where a and b are different numbers). CCSS.Math.Content.8.EE.C.7b Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.8.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-onone, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 8 topics, texts, and issues, building on others ideas and expressing their own clearly. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.8.5 Integrate multimedia and visual displays into presentations to clarify information, strengthen claims and evidence, and add interest.

When answering questions, use the ShowMe app on the iPad that is connected to the overhead projector before moving on. Collect homework. Guided Instruction Teacher will explain that today they are going to watch everyones music videos on equations. After all videos are viewed teacher will guide students in a discussion about what they learned from the video and how the videos help them with retention of material learned throughout the unit. Homework Homework will be the Study Guide: Review page 125, numbers 74-80 odd, and to prepare for the unit 2 challenge (test) tomorrow Closure
