Alla V. Kirilina
Translation / Interpetation and the language
consciousness in the dynamic synchrony: the mental
boundaries of the languages
(on the material of Russian in Moscow)
The first part of the issue deals with the actually need of a new dynamic non-structuralist
language model for the globalization era; two psycholinguistic concepts are being
considered: the associative-verbal net and the language consciousness. The second part
is devoted to the perspectives of their research. On the base of the everyday life theory
some options of the language consciousness investigation are being demonstrated
by means of the new concept of naive interpretation/translation. Its pattern is being
discussed; a new term mental language boundaries is offered.

Key words: language consciousness, associative-verbal net, translation/interpetation,

globalization, mental language boundaries, loan translation, language contact.

Positive thinking of the people of Anglo culture and its
reflection in language and communication
The present paper deals with the notion of positive thinking (Peale 1952) and analyses
some facts of its manifestation in English vocabulary, phraseology, grammar and
communication, both verbal and nonverbal. The paper argues that positive thinking
is one of the values of Anglo culture which yet again confirms the systematic nature of
culture and the interdependence between cognition, language and communication. In
view of the fact that the English language exists in its variations, we consider Anglo
English (Anna Wierzbicka, 2006), which includes inner circle variations of the English
language and which is an essential part of Anglo culture, which we translate into Russian
as Anglo-Saxon culture in order to avoid confusion in its interpretation.

Key words: positive thinking, mentality, communicative values, communicative

behavior, politeness strategies, communicative style.

TERMINOLOGICALLY HOMOGENOUS INTERPRETATION
OF CHARACTERS MICROTEXTS REPRESENTED
IN LITERARY PROSE
(ANALYSIS OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA)

The article treats and summarizes the results of a psycholinguistic experiment covering
the problem of a terminologically homogenous interpretation of characters microtexts
(and chains of characters microtexts) in literary prose. The experimental results
agree well with the theory of a textual mental image. The evident correlation between
characters microtexts (chains of characters microtexts) and linguistically represented
mental structures is especially emphasized and interpreted.

Key words: characters microtext, terminologically homogenous interpretation of

literary text, psycholinguistic experiment.

Svetlana V. Vlasenko
Are Dormant Hurdles Encounted in Language Code
Swiching Surmountable?
Translators False Friends As Long-Livers:
Empirical Observations
The article features EnglishRussian translation problems exemplified by many instances
specifically related to the sustainable phenomenon seriously impeding adequate crosscultural communication, the so called translators false friends. Literal translation is
reviewed based on empirical data quoted herein which allow for treating false friends
as rooted in literal rendering of source texts or their components. Approaches to the
translators verbal conscience structure are addressed from the Moscow Psycholinguistics
School perspective.

Key words: English-Russian translation, quasi-translation, text imagery, translator

verbalization patterning, translators false friends.

Basing on the analysis of the entries concerning the stimuli eye and face in English and
Russian associative dictionaries, the associations were classified into several categories.
Different salience of the categories in the two languages indicates some deductions about
the specific properties of the linguistic world image of Russian and English speakers.

Key words: parts of a body, associative experiment, associative field, linguistic image
of the world.

of verbal consciousness based on cognitive
and associative experiments
Paper presents software to research cognitive model of verbal consciousness, based
on achievements of scientific school Russian verbal personality. At the beginning,
there is brief information about modeling approach. Paper continues by description
of psycholinguistic experiments, which are empirical base of modeling. For previously
presented solutions, modes and constraints are described. Different modes of new
application are demonstrated, including modeling with alternatives, which werent
implemented before. In conclusion shortcomings of current solution are noticed, followed
by suggestion of future improvements.

Key words: Research software, cognitive modeling, verbal consciousness, free

associative experiment, cognitive experiment

Text in dialogues

Text in the communicative paradigm is regarded as a subject. To its understanding, the

text can not be put to death dismemberment into separate elements. Only a dialogical
relationship between semantic rows within the text allows the latter to engage in dialogue
with other tests and thereby contribute to the increment of meaning. Dialogue is the text
in their faces. But the text itself is a construct of the dialogic. To generate a sense, at
least two basic substructure of the text should be in a dialogue (semantic mismatch)
between them. Otherwise, the text turns to a quote from one given meaning.

Key words: Text, the communicative entity, dialogue, meaning, text analysis, dialogue

of understandings game

The article was published for the first time in collaborative monograph The bases of the
theory of speech activity (Moscow, Publishing house Nauka, 1974) which is the first
summarizing work created by Russian psycholinguists. The author describes different kinds
of scientific experiments in psycholinguistics. Insufficient understanding that each access
to language consciousness is a kind of linguistic experiment leads to underestimation of the
place of an experiment in the system of classical linguistics methods and correspondently to
underestimation of psycholinguistics place in the system of modern linguistics disciplines.
Key words: experiment, psycholinguistics, method, research.
