Title: The culture in the UAE Speaker: Abdulla Almazrouei Specific purpose: To inform the audience about the

culture, norms, beliefs, and social practices in the UAE. Central idea: I consider the UAEs culture as one of a kind as it has many values, beliefs, norms and social practices that makes me very proud to be a part of it and it makes me able to communicate with other cultures appropriately. Introduction: I. According to Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian leader, A nations culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people. II. As a person who lived and grew most of his life in this culture, I believe that I have the enough information and experience to review my main ideas and explain them. III. I consider the UAEs culture as one of a kind as it has many values, beliefs, norms and social practices that makes me very proud to be a part of it and it makes me able to communicate with other cultures appropriately. IV. I am going to go over two main ideas, which are first, the immigration reflection on our culture, and the second main idea is norms and social practices. Body: Main idea #1: The immigrants in the UAE had both positive and negative reflection on our culture. According to the Department of Immigration in the UAE, 300,000 immigrants entered the country in 2010 with increasing by 6.5 % than the last ten years. Subpoint 1: as a newly formed country, we provided plenty of job opportunities to develop our countrys health, education, and economy. Therefore, immigrants from different countries like Egypt, Jordan, India and England grabbed the chance and moved to the UAE.

However, I admit that they really did a great job and worked hard to accomplish their mission. But, on the other hand, they affected the way we dress, eat, and behave. Fore example, nowadays, people started to ware skinnies, shorts and hates instead of wearing kandora and gitra which are our tradition costumes. Internal Summary: The immigrants in the UAE had both positive and negative reflection on our culture. They did a great job developing our country but they neglect some strange behaviors. Main idea #2: norms and social practices have a big influence on individuals culture. The online free dictionary defines norms as the rules of an appropriate behavior and social practices as the predictable behavior patterns that members of a culture typically follow. Subpoint 1: In sum, our norms are summarized in a famous slogan we used to say the god, the country, the president. So, we are loyal for each one of them in this order. Furthermore, as a part of our social practices, we used to visit our neighbors from time to time and gather with our families on Fridays and have some discussion, jokes and stories among us. Also, we participate in marriage ceremonies and join the elders with our dance, which we call it yolah. Internal Summary: Norms and social practices have a big influence on individuals culture. Therefore, our norms and social practices maintain the strong relationship between the UAEs citizens. Conclusion: I. I consider the UAEs culture as one of a kind as it has many values, beliefs, norms and social practices that made me very proud to be a part of it and it makes me able to communicate with other cultures appropriately. II. So far, we went over tow main ideas, the immigration reflection on my culture as well as norms and social practices that the citizens in the UAE have.

III.

Finally, as I stated at the beginning of my speech, According to Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian leader, A nations culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people.

IV.

So, now we understand the predominating attitudes and behaviors that shaped my culture. Therefore, I am so proud to be a part in such amazing culture with great values and believes that maintain its strength and makes it beloved.
