UNIT: ROMEO AND JULIET!

Objective
Students will be able to analyze the play they just read and compare it to the lm version.

Students will compare and contrast the lm and play versions of Romeo and Juliet Students will begin formal essay writing Students will participate in an online discussion

Materials
Teacher iPad Student iPads Film notes form Romeo and Juliet (1968) (in the library) Student blog Keynote- Quiz Pages app

Procedures
1.

(Day One) Introduce Romeo and Juliet (1968) the lm, each student will have lm and literature notes form to ll out during the screening (teacher should email it to students at the beginning of class, students can access it from their iPad). Students will be comparing and contrasting (similarities and di!erences between the lm and the play) Students will watch 50 minutes of the movie and ll out part one of their notes form (Day Two) Students will watch 50 minutes of the movie and ll out part two of their notes form (Day Three) Students will complete the movie (40 minutes) and ll out part three of their notes form and upload it to their blog Lead a discussion regarding the similarities and di!erences and some possible explanations for them.

Homework
Day One- Begin essay drafting- Students must write and outline and a thesis statement for their paper (Topic- Who is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet), they must upload the draft to a tab in their blog Day Two- Students must participate in an online discussion regarding the play and lm versions of Romeo and Juliet (this discussion should be created on the teachers website), complete open note reading quiz( this quiz will be compiled of teacher chosen quiz questions submitted by students, it will be emailed and should be returned by email) Day Three- Students will complete a compare and contrast chart showing an understanding of the similarities and di!erences between the lm and movie (they can design the chart or organize it an any way they choose) using the Pages app on their iPad
