ICT Integration Project Joint Statement

The ICT Integration Project requires us to work collaboratively in a small group of three to achieve a common goal. The main goal of the ICT Integrated Project is to produce a major teaching and learning resource using information and communication technologies (ICT). This project is intended to broaden our knowledge based on the different ways of integrating ICT into teaching and learning. By the completion of this project we will have a sound understanding of how ICT enhances opportunities for learning in a classroom environment and construct new understandings about ICT through the process of research and inquiry. The resource spans over four lesson sequences and is to include a minimum of three student-centred uses of ICT. Our lesson sequence is targeted at a Year One level and is within the Science learning area. We believe that it is important to remember that the ICT used in each lesson should support student learning; not solely be the teaching tool. The ICT Integration Project is broken down into three assessable components: Planning, Prototyping and Publishing. Our understanding of what is required for each component is stated below: The first component Planning involves working collaboratively as a group to design our major teaching and learning resource and get us thinking about what types of ICT we can use in a hypothetical classroom. The planning component is due on Tuesday, 28th of January and is to be displayed on the Teacher Page of our online Weebly website. To begin the project we first need to select a topic, content area and year level in which we intent to teach. Once we have decided on those items we can begin the planning. The planning component involves the following: Creating a brainstorm mind map that displays our ideas about what when intend to do and how our topic and lessons links in with the Australian Curriculum. A Project Plan that clearly shows the steps that are required to complete the project along with timeframes and responsibilities that have been evenly delegated to members within the group. Forward Planning Documents that specify the teaching and learning that is planned over a four lesson sequence. The lessons designed (including ICT) are to be motivating and stimulating to learners. A statement that highlights the ICT resources used within our lessons, our reasons for selecting the particular resources and how the resources are used to support thinking and learning. A statement that indicates how our project is underpinned by established learning theory. The second component Prototyping encourages us explore and recognise the theoretical models that underpin ICT use and critically reflect on our own ideas and design by accepting feedback from our peers. This component involves our group presenting a 30 minute presentation/activity to our peers based on one lesson out of the four lessons that we have designed. The date we are presenting to our peers is Wednesday, 29th of January. Our presentation must be engaging and involve class discussion and participation through the use of ICT. Through us presenting our ideas and activity to our peers it will help them to consider how ICT can contribute to learning in a classroom. At the end of the presentation it is beneficial to our group that our peers provide us with feedback and evaluate our ideas and the activity/lesson we presented to them. The third and final component is Publishing and the due date for this is Monday, 03rd of February. This component involves our group publishing the teaching and learning resource that we have designed and placing it on the Web. We are to create our own site using the program Weebly (http://www.weebly.com/#) and include information pages/tabs on the site such as information, task, process, resource, evaluation, conclusion/reflection and teachers page.
