Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome back to the start of a new school year! This letter is intended to inform you of what will be occurring in year 4 throughout this term. Although your child has been placed in a specific class, the year 4 cohort will be divided based on learning goals and subject areas. This means that your child will essentially have two classroom teachers. Below is an outline of what is being taught this term and by whom. English: Narratives through script writing. Students will be placed into groups based on their learning goals and allocated to a teacher. Maths: Addition and subtraction revision, multiplication, time and symmetry. Students will be placed into groups based on their learning goals and allocated to a teacher. Christian Studies: the life of Jesus Christ. This subject will be taught by Lauren Coverdale. Science: Force and energy. This subject will be taught by Lauren Coverdale. Geography: Africa, sustainability and natural resources. This subject will be taught by Hollie Parker History: Aboriginals pre-contact. This subject will be taught by Hollie Parker. Physical Education will be taught by Sherrin Carmichael, and will be held on Mondays. Music will continue to be taught by Jenny Bakon. Japanese will continue to be taught by Kathy Payne. If you have any questions or concerns about a specific subject please contact the appropriate teacher. Students will be participating in a variety of activities this term, as outlined below. Year 4 has a very busy year this year. To keep you, the parents, up to date with the happenings in year 4 and around the school we have developed a class website. This website is intended to inform you of upcoming events through our class calendar. It has also been developed to give you a bit of information about the classroom teachers, the learning occurring in the classroom, and notes and other important information. This website also has a quick and easy contact form to get in touch with the teachers. The website is password protected, and only parents of our current students will be informed of the password. This allows us to keep all events and photos confidential. Our intention with this website is to inform parents of our current students. Due to this, we ask that you keep the password confidential, as we do not want others accessing the site. In the future we would like to create a classroom gallery on the website, and intend to post photos of students from time to time, so parents can see what is going on at school.
