Death Penalty Essay

United States along with thirty-two other countries still allow Capital Punishment to be exercised. Capital Punishment more commonly known as death sentence is an issue for many civilians who take its defects. These defects include taxpayer money wasted on a single execution; time spent on court, paper filing and the end result brings negative outcomes rather than positive ones. Texas holds the record for most executions placed. The death penalty in the United States is limited under the Eighth Amendment of the U.S constitution. The causes of the death penalty are mostly first-degree murder. First-degree murder is an act of murder or killing with malice aforethought. Another cause could be treason or betraying ones country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or to overthrow the government. If the capital punishment persists, it could cause a lot more problems instead of fixing and stopping the crimes. It can cause more death penalty issue. The process of capital punishment would get cheaper too. If this happens, there will be more criminals getting capital punishments. I also believe that more innocent civilians would get killed since the rate of innocent executed in death sentence is one out of seven. The government will also lose a lot of money due to long process. The capital punishment should be stricter. It should only be allowed if the crime committed is really inhuman and violent. We could also try to distribute and sign a petition to end death penalty. I believe that death penalty doesnt stop any crimes. Killing the convicted ones doesnt mean it will stop the future similar crimes. I believe death penalty should be abolished. By stopping the death penalty, we could save more money and taxes that we could use to help foreign countries in need. Instead of wasting money on long expensive death penalty process, we could be saving more lives and providing people with their needs. Also, by stopping death penalty, we could serve as an example of what peace is, Theres already been a lot of killing and war that happen before, we should stop killing more people even if theyre criminals. Japan similar to the United States allows capital punishment with some similarities and differences. Japan has a 9-step case where they define each individual step to the inmate who will be executed. Most executions are meant for treason and aggravated murder. They seek both record files of the criminal and files, which would have legal issues that won't allow the execution to be approved. They execute a prisoner by hanging them; the rope around their neck once floor is removed will fracture their death. A similar between the United States and Japan is that they carry the punishment with legal steps. Unlike United States, Japan served no favor to their citizens. They execute if the evidence and case are present against them. They both keep prisoners in solidarity till they are executed or they have visitors.

Japan has an article regarding to death sentence while US has bits and pieces mentioning death and life. The way prisoners are executed in US is mostly now done by lethal injection and Japan with hanging. Japan's method is better since it can be used multiple times unlike the calcium injected into prisoners in US. The death sentences for minors are allowed to happen in United States but not Japan. They forbid murder of juveniles and juveniles capital cases are rare. Unlike the public of United States, Japan's public supports capital punishment. In my opinion, Japan's capital punishment really has nothing to change since they have strict rules on approving an execution. Files, evidence of all sorts are collected before proceeding instead of debating and debating like the US. The way Japan Capital Punishment is set up to fit the time of regulation I would place. It might be that people in US like to debate for no reason and like to defend their wrong opinions or thoughts. Capital punishment is murder. The U.S is one of the few countries that still have this brutal punishment. Life imprisonment or life without possible parole is the best punishment with this vicious people. It is so much cheaper and serves the same purpose; it keeps the offender off the streets. The study estimated the death penalty case costs $ 1.26 million, and life

in prison cases was found to have an average cost of $740,000. The investigation costs for death sentence cases are about three times greater that for non-death cases. The costs for death cases were about sixteen times greater than for non-death cases. Every extra dollar spent on capital punishment is one that is not going to police departments, drug treatment programs, education, and other government services that could help prevent crimes. Also, there is no credible evidence that capital punishment discourage crime
any better than life imprisonment. A policy similar to Japans capital punishment should be implemented into the US. It also has to clear up the amendment to talk about the death sentence since no amendment clearly talks to capital punishment. Too many debates are only result of an unsuccessful policy to take action on capital punishment. The money spent on these cases only end with negative outcomes. Money lost, time lost and public being angered for different reasons. The policy should also make the public not be able to speak until they read the case since they act irrational and cant control their own thoughts. An action that we could take is to make up a petition to change the capital punishment policy. The petitions would be given to the representatives. The representatives would share it to the public, debates, conference, and friends to make policy official. If more people sign and support the petition it would make a difference. Death penalty should be changed or stopped. We waste money that we could use on other policy that could help our nation. We could use the money we waste to fund policy to provide jobs, better education, better environment, security, and to stop the crimes.
