Case Project 3-1: Interference on WLANs

There are a bunch of unlicensed bands that are part of the radio spectrum; this is available to all users. A big drawback of this situation is that it because these bands do not need a license for operation, it can create interference between different devices that work closely to these bands, WLAN is one of them. The different devices work in the 2.4GHz radio spectrum, and are associated with other bands called: ISM or UNII. Here are some of the different devices that can cause interference: 2.4GHz ISM:

Microwave Ovens, 2.4GHz Cordless Phones, Fluorescent Bulbs, 2.4GHz Video Cameras, Plasma Cutters and Bluetooth Radios. 5GHz UNII:

5GHz Cordless Phones, Radar, Perimeter Sensors and Digital Satellites.
