ECONOMIZER
A recuperator is a heat exchanger between the exhaust gases and inlet fluid

It decreases thermal energy intake of the inlet fluid

For every 220 C reduction in flue gas temperature, there is 1% saving of fuel in the boiler It can be used to preheat the inlet gas used for fuel combustion

TYPES: A)RADIATION RECUPERATOR

A portion of the heat transfer from the hot gases to the surface of the inner tube takes place by radiation The cold air in the outer shell is almost transparent to infrared radiation so only convection takes place to the incoming air

TYPES: B)CONVECTION RECUPERATOR

Hot gases are carried through a number of parallel small diameter tubes Incoming fluid to be heated enters a shell surrounding the tubes Tubes are baffled to allow the fluid to pass over them multiple times

TYPES: C)HYBRID RECUPERATOR

High-temperature radiation section followed a by convective section

WASTE HEAT RECOVERY ASSESSMENT

WASTE HEAT RECOVERY ASSESSMENT

Waste heat recovery is preferred to operate with high temperature exhaust gases Efficiency increases as temp. increases because waste heat recovery depends on sensible heat.
