Making Your Quilted PILLOW

Step 1 Cut out pattern using paper scissors. Step 2 Lay a patterned piece of fabric, good side down on the table. Step 3 Lay pattern on a corner of the fabric and pin it. Step 4 Cut fabric, along cutting lines, using pinking shears. Step 5 Remove pins and set aside. Step 6 Repeat step 4 and step 5 for the other half of your piece of fabric. Step 7 Repeat step 2 through to step 5 with your other piece of patterned fabric. Step 8 Place the 4 pieces of fabric you just cut to size face up (good sides) on the table. Step 9 Take 2 pieces of fabric of opposing patterns and lay one on top of the other, right sides (good sides) together. Step 10 Pin along one edge using 2 pins. Step 11 Using a ruler and pencil crayon, draw a sewing line, 1 cm down from edge. Step 12 Sew along sewing line using a running stitch, and approximately 7 stitches per inch (use thread close to the same colour as your main fabric colour). Step 13 Set aside. Step 14 Repeat step 9 to step 13 for your other two pieces of fabric. Step 15 Remove pins, OPEN seams and press (iron) them flat using the iron. Step 16 Lay your sewn pieces of fabric face up on the table. Step 17 Lay one on top of the other, right sides facing each other and opposite patterns together. Step 18 Match center seams and pin using 4 pins along one side. Step 19 Using a ruler and pencil crayon, draw a sewing line, 1 cm down from edge. Step 20 Sew along sewing line. Step 21 Remove pins, open seams and iron them flat.

Step 22 Take backing material (solid colour) and lay it good side facing up. Step 23 Lay your sewn part, good side down on top of the backing material. Step 24 Pin sides near corner and center cut to size, using pinking shears. Step 25 Using a ruler and pencil crayon, draw a sewing line, 1 cm down from edges, leaving a 10 cm detached sewing line in the center of one side (this will be the opening to turn your pillow right sides out and to add fiber fill). Step 26 Sew along sewing line. Step 27 Remove pins. Step 28 Trim extra fabric and cut off corner, be careful NOT to cut thread. Step 29 - Press seams flat and turn right sides out, pushing corners out. Step 30 Fold opening into pillow and iron flat. Step 31 Add fiberfill being careful not to overstuff. Step 30 Pin and sew closed using a whipstitch, small close stitches.

Now your pillow is complete... Place your name on a piece of paper, grade your pillow, telling me why you are giving yourself that mark (out of 10) and pass it in, ensuring your piece of paper is pinned correctly.
