POLICY AND PROCEDURE GUIDELINES MISSION STATEMENT It is our mission at Warren Central High School to provide a safe and positive atmosphere offering lifetime fitness activities, sports and strategies that enable our students to gain the knowledge, skills, appreciation and confidence needed to live a physically active, healthy lifestyle. GOALS It is our goal to develop well-rounded, physically educated individuals who not only can understand and meet National and State standards, but can also begin to make healthy, lifelong lifestyle choices. NASPE & INDIANA STATE STANDARDS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION:

A physically educated studentSTANDARD 1 Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. STANDARD 2 Demonstrates an understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. STANDARD 3 Demonstrate the principles of regular physical activity. STANDARD 4 Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. STANDARD 5 Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. STANDARD 6 Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. EXPECTATIONS It is our expectation to have our students dress out, follow instructions and participate in class each day. This will help to ensure a quality Physical Education experience.

ASSESSMENTS Physical Education grades will be based on scores from each of the zones. Period 1 will have five 20% grading areas. Periods 2-7 will be based four areas of 25% grading areas. Each student will receive ten points for the following areas: attendance, tardiness, proper dress, participation, effort and good sportsmanship. We will use assessments with the Chrome Books and Blackboard Learn for each subject/zone using quizzes and skills tests. Fitness Profile will be used to track and organize information that will be used as a measurement tool for tracking individual fitness success. ATTENDANCE Because Physical Education is a participatory class, students must be present to accumulate daily points. If a student has an excused absence, it is the students responsibility to approach instructor for makeup assignments/activities. Make up points will be made up every Friday during choice activity. DRESS AND SUPPLIES All Warren Central Physical Education students must have and wear their Physical Education Uniform. T-Shirt, shorts, athletic shoes, white sport socks/footies. Hygiene pack: shampoo, lotion, soap, brush/comb All personal items and articles of clothing must be labeled with students name and class period for identification. Do not share your combination. Lost/Torn P.E. shirts must be re-placed. Alternative clothing may be worn but must be plain or Warren Wear. All shorts must be at least finger-tip length and worn at the waist. Athletic Shoes must be worn properly and laced and tied. If, on occasion, a student has forgotten their uniform, a laundered loaner will be provided in exchange for their school i.d. Sweat pants and sweat shirts may be worn outdoors or the discretion of the instructor. Leggings (tights) may be worn as school policy says with shorts are worn over the top.

AQUATICS Swimming is a mandatory part of the WCHS Physical Education curriculum. As well as, a requirement of the State of Indiana when there is a pool in the school. Every student in Foundations of Physical Education I and II will be required to swim as part of the Zone rotation. Period 1: will swim 4 weeks and Period 2-7: will swim 5 weeks.

The only exception would be a medical condition or a religious conflict. A doctors statement must be given to the instructor explaining the reason for exclusion and the length of the exclusion. A religious statement must be written on church stationary explaining the conflict with swimming and should be signed by the minister/pastor and parent with contact information. These students will be placed with another class for the duration of the aquatics instruction. However, those individuals are still responsible for the Aquatics information for the final exam. PARTICIPATION Warren Central Physical Education students are expected to dress out in uniform and participate to the best of their abilities each day. If for some reason, a student cannot participate, a written parental excuse must be brought to the teacher. The teacher may still have you dress out for class. Beyond three, (3) consecutive days the student will need a medical issue, note any limitations and state the duration of in-activity. Students who are medically excused for more than 10 days may be removed from the class for the semester. NOTE Be sure to inform the teacher of any medical issues that may impact the students learning. LOCKER ROOM Students will have 6 minutes to dress, use the restroom, secure all belongings and report to squads for dynamic warm-up. The locker room will be cleared and locked and no students will be allowed admittance during class time. Please keep the locker room neat and clean. LOCKERS All WCHS students will be issued a combination locker. It is the students responsibility to secure all items during and after class. You may also bring a lock from home to lock your own locker. DO NOT SHARE YOUR LOCKER COMBINATION OR LOCKER. Lockers will not be opened for you unless your name is on the locker sheet for that particular locker. Lockers will also be given to the students in the Aquatics. LOST AND FOUND Any personal items that are found in the locker room should be turned into the Physical Education office for identification. Please notify your instructor: Mr. Joyner or Ms. McCammon in the appropriate locker room. Reports for stolen items can be filled out at the Freshman Academy office.

CLASS INFRACTIONS & CONSEQUENCES Flagrant or excessive infractions in any one day may result in direct administrative assistance. Our policy is 3 strikes and youre in boot camp on Fridays. Immediate removal there is PEIV. Possible infractions are: NOT DRESSING OUT FOR CLASS PROPER CELLULAR PHONES/ELECTRONICS JEWELRY IN CLASS TARDY TO CLASS FROM THE LOCKER ROOM UN-SPORTMANSHIP BEHAVIOR/CONDUCT/CUSSING UN-AUTHORIZED USE OF EQUIPMENT BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER CLASS REFUSING TO PARTICIPATE

1ST INFRACTION: re-direction/verbal warning/possible phone call home 2nd INFRACTION: re-direction/verbal warning/loss of points/phone calls home 3rd INFRACTION: Possible Removal to PEIV and parent contact. Three visits to PEIV and an Administrative Referral will be written.
