Changing Hearts. Saving Lives.

On a blustery, cold winter day in early 2013, James and Lisa came through the doors of CPC. Unlike many other clients who come in, uncertain if they will keep their baby, James and Lisa knew they would, but it would be against all medical advice they were receiving. Coming in search of hope that their baby would be born healthy and that theyd be ready to be responsible parents, James and Lisa were 23 weeks pregnant and were both past drug and alcohol abusers. They were stuck in the cyclical lifestyle like so many who share that struggle. Their first two children had been removed from their custody by OCS because of past drug and alcohol abuse and an unstable home life. During this time, James and Lisa were their baby would be born with extreme defects. The doctor words were possibly without arms and legs, just a head. They were devastated to hear this news and left feeling hopeless and alone. A friend told them about Community Pregnancy Center, a place where you can get peer counseling and practical help when youre having a baby. When they arrived, they found what they were looking for-Hope and Help. They poured their heart out to the CPC counselor and were offered

A Word From Our Director-Bill Donovan

We stand amazed at what God has done through the ministry of Community Pregnancy Center during the last 30 years. As we celebrate this milestone we are humbled by the thousands of mothers and fathers who chose life for their babies. We are thankful for the huge team of collaborators who keep our doors open every day, our great staff, committed volunteers, dedicated board of directors and the hundreds of friends who faithfully support and pray daily for this good work. We couldnt make it without you. As we look to the future, now in our beautiful new home, we can only trust that we will see a dramatic increase in those we can serve because of the greater visibility and accessibility we now enjoy. Please continue to pray for CPC. That alone is the best gift anyone can give this ministry.

A Womb with a View by Nurse Manager Jamie Kerr

Performing Ultrasounds for our clients is such a privilege. We get the honor of seeing these babies for the first time along with their families. Each experience is different. For some the ability to see their baby brings nothing but happiness and joy. For others it brings relief seeing a heartbeat. Still for others it brings the realization that what is growing inside them is in fact a baby, and not just a group of cells. In all cases the ultrasound gives our clients the opportunity to bond with their baby. about their baby before making a decision. Post Abortion Counseling & Education by PACE Coordinator Sherry Wright

I was asked to share with you about the Post Abortion Counseling and Education ministry at CPC. Its an interesting ministry, because the last thing I ever wanted to do was share my story with anyone, so to find myself engaged in this program can only be because of the precious hand of my LORD. The beautiful thing is that God has taken the absolutely worst thing I ever did and blessed me by giving me a front row seat to witness His hand and heart for womens lives. the LORD is my healer. Please remember to pray for the women who are carrying this grief and burden in their hearts, to be willing to face their fear of the unknown and seek the help we offer through the Bible study. It is the washing of the Word, a renewing of hearts and minds that can more freely serve Him. As one of the ladies that came Women call the Center and for for this program I can testify that some, the process of healing its worth it! 30th Anniversary Celebration of CPC

And while courtrooms across America were busy debating the issue in the following years, many, many young women were faced with a crisis pregnancy of their own, and many realized that what was happening in the courtroom wasnt addressing the crisis these young women were facing. About 10 years later, a group of local pastors decided to step in and do something to help these young women with making positive parenting decisions, and help with adoption and practical support. In November1984, CPC of Anchorage was born and since then, during the last 30 years, thousands of young women and families have found a light in the darkness, a calm in the storm and an answer in the chaos. Since 1984, many other volunteers, staff and board members have come and gone, but the message has remained the same. God loves you and were here to help you walk through this. Look for information coming soon our 30th Anniversary Celebration in November. We hope youll join us and celebrate with us, too.

signed up and came monthly for 12 months, meeting with an EWYL counselor each time on different lifeimproving topics, such as infant care and early parenting. During this same time, James signed up for the EWYL Dads Program and met for five months with one of our male EWYL facilitators. James learned how fathers can make a difference in their childrens lives and create a safe home for your family. It was also during this time that both James and Lisa realized that they both needed to surrender their life to Christ to experience true, lasting change. While they attended sessions at CPC, they worked hard to straighten out their familys life. In the summer of 2013, a healthy baby boy was born with all his arms and legs and zero defects. And shortly after, because of James and Lisas hard work, they were reunited with their two older children. Both admit that living a clean life has its challenges, but are so thankful for the success theyve found and attribute their familys success to what they learned and found at CPC.
