USUALLY (maybe not every time) The teaching group will seat in the seats of honor. They will put their PPT onto the class computer. Greg starts the class by taking attendance, giving announcements, giving a brief introduction to the topic Then the presentation group will complete the first hour (until break).

What will the presentation group do?

1. the presentation group will show the class the new vocabulary and explain the meanings (in English and, if needed, in Chinese). 2. The group will give the class time to read the article for the day (15-20 minutes) 3. After the reading, the presentation group will go over the answers to the exercises in the book, having the class give the answers based on their reading. 4. Lead the class in discussing two original discussion questions

The teaching group may decide to ask additional questions or make summary statements about the overall discussion.

After the discussion questions, the teaching group will be done for the day and may sit down in the seats of honor. All members of the teaching group should participate in teaching. As a group they can decide who will do the vocabulary, who will do the exercises, and who will lead the discussion. (probably the best English speakers should lead the discussion).

A good discussion question:

Each week the teaching group will prepare two discussion questions for the whole class to discuss in small groups. A good discussion question 1-should be based on the reading, 2-Should clarify points or raise issues for which there could be different viewpoints, 3-Should require people to share their opinions and to listen to the opinions of others. 4-A discussion question should NOT be a question which can be answered yes/no. It should require discussion! 5-Discussion questions may sometimes support or sometimes challenge the viewpoint of the article.
