SCOPE
This Standard specifies the materials, manufacture and testing of
concrete poles for use in the construction of overhead lines.

The following types of concrete pole are approved:

Prestressed steel reinforced spun square section

(c)

Prestressed steel reinforced spun circular section

MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURE

Concrete poles shall be manufactured using the materials specified,
and by the processes given in section 4 (Prestressed Concrete Poles
subject to Impact) of BS 607. In addition to the Impact Reinforcement
at ground level, similar Impact Reinforcement shall be introduced over
a minimum length of 1 metre commencing at 1.5m from the top of the
pole.

HOLES
Holes for the purpose of attaching fittings shall be provided as shown
on drawing Nos. 1-704.1 to 4 associated with this Standard. The holes

shall be formed during the manufacturing process and shall be free of

obstructions and burrs.
6.

MARKING
Each pole shall be indelibly marked at 3m from the butt with the length,
class and year of manufacture. The manufacturers name or trademark
shall also be shown.

7.

TESTS
Type Tests and Proof Tests shall be carried out in accordance with BS
607.
