Player Centred Approach

What to look for.... It is always a contention as to what to look for in an player. FHM coach will be looking for the following in a player which may lead to excellence at a later stage. Some of the key questions will include:

Speed

- Are they quick? - Are they balanced and agile?

Personality - Do they try or give up easily? - Do they want to be involved even when they make mistakes? - Do they always try to do something positive? - Do they encourage others or lead by example? - Do they help team mates or only play for themselves Insight - Do they recognise opportunities within the game? - Space to play or move into? - Where there team mates are in relation to them the ball and the opponent? - When to ball will be played? - Cues from other players such as posture, eye contact, awareness or lack of awareness in an opponent? - Do they seem to be in right place at the right time? - Do they have good technique? - Are they comfortable moving off both feet, turn both directions? - Can they control the ball with ease using hands and feet? - Can they run, dribble and beat opponents - Can they pass using various styles and ranges - Can they tackle and intercept
