Sergio Spencer With social media being as popular as it is in todays society, there is no surprise that education has welcomed

social media inside the classroom. There are many social websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube that are all being used by students and teachers in the classroom. However, there are also many people who use these websites in a negative way. Teachers and students have to be safe and aware of the information they put on these websites and what they say on these websites. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/social-media-education One post can attract unwanted attention or even danger of some sort. Students and teachers need to be aware of posting pictures and videos without proper releases because they may violate the privacy or rights of an individual. To avoid legal and ethical issues students teachers need to be educated on internet etiquette to protect themselves and possibly others. Augmented Reality is basically a digital enhanced view of something. It makes something that is two-dimensional become virtual reality to the human eye. As of now video games and smart phones are driving the development of augmented reality. In the future, augmented reality will be more of how we see it in movies like in Iron Man. Flipping the classroom is a new method of teaching students. It basically calls for teachers to create lectures that can be viewed online outside of the classroom, and moving homework into the classroom. http://www.knewton.com/flipped-classroom/

Students will view lectures at home before class sessions, and while in class more time will be focused on exercises, projects, discussions, and hands on activities. There are many schools, corporations, colleges, and universities across the nation stating that they have significant gains in student performance. Some pros to flipping the classroom are that the student can control the use of video lectures. They can watch, rewind, and fast-forward lectures as needed. In a traditional classroom setting, students will not have the option to replay a lecture that a teacher is giving. ESL students or other students that might need to hear a lecture more than once. By flipping a classroom that can be possible. http://www.washington.edu/teaching/teaching-resources/flipping-theclassroom/ Taking class time to focus on concepts and allowing teachers to really get into the roots of the instruction may give teachers a better opportunity to discover errors in student thinking. More class time can also be focused on collaborative projects, which can build classroom community and encourage social interaction amongst all students in the class. Some cons to flipping the classroom are the amount of time outside of the classroom that it will take for teachers to create the multi media resources for students such as lectures. Teachers will also have to make sure that both the recorded lectures and the in school activities correlate. Flipping a classroom has the possibility of requiring teachers to do more than what they already do. It may also require them to further their education to properly learn how to flip a

classroom. Students may feel that the use of coming to school is irrelevant because they can learn what they need to know on the Internet.
