curriculum planning documents. The detail and length of the planning documents is a decision that your group makes and justifies. The individual justification should be no longer in length than three A4 pages.

Task Rationale:
Planning for a school year involves year, term, week and daily planning. Preparation requires knowledge and understanding of curriculum documents, mathematics concepts, mathematical thinking, pedagogical strategies, assessment, diagnosis and remediation of learning misconceptions and identification of appropriate resources. Demonstration of this knowledge will be evidenced through development of teacher planning documents using the current Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, and a written justification of the pedagogical design approaches and mathematics teaching and learning theories underpinning the planning documents.

Detailed Task Description - Group task

This task is completed in groups of three or four students. The task involves curriculum planning and completion of the task should model the way teachers in schools are required to collaboratively plan. The professional work of teachers involves substantial dialogue concerning interpretation of curriculum, ways mathematical concepts are implemented and development of planning documents. Dialogue evidencing your group collaboration must be evidenced. Your group is required to use The Australian Curriculum: Mathematics (ACARA, 2012) to prepare three levels

of planning for mathematics that are consistent with a designated primary school year level. The planning is
for a term, a week and a lesson. Your group will work collaboratively to prepare: a) A planning document for one school term using a presentation-style appropriate for a primary school curriculum planning document (if you use a planning document from a school please list in your acknowledgements) b) Week planning documents equivalent to the number of students in your group (e.g. three students = three weekly plans; four students = four weekly plans)

c) Detailed lesson plans (Learning Experience Plan, LEP) equivalent to the number of students in your group (e.g. three students = three lesson plans; four students = four lesson plans). Each lesson plan should be for at least a 30-minute block, be comprehensive, include details of all activities, and evidence of all resources to be used. d) One detailed assessment plan that includes both formative and summative assessment. The assessment plan should be supported with a 'classroom-ready' task sheet, or equivalent assessment documentation, for distribution to primary students, and details concerning what constitutes evidence of student understanding. e) A summary of potential learning issues for the concepts to be learned throughout the term. The summary should draw on appropriate literature which is referenced, clearly and succinctly describe the issue/challenge, its likely origin, how a classroom teacher would diagnose the learning issue, and strategies/resources for remediation. f) Each group member will submit an individual justification evidencing their understanding of how planned learning provides opportunities for students to develop conceptual understanding, mathematical thinking and communication. The justification is a synthesis of the key features of the planned unit and no longer in length than three A4 pages.

Your group should collaborate via a wiki (or other suitable on-line platform) to which you give access to your lecturer by the end of week 3. Your wikispace must provide evidence of substantial collaboration in the decision-making for planning documents. Distance students are required to form groups in the same way that internal students are required to do. A discussion forum has been created for Distance only students to facilitate group formation.
