What I have learnt in the progression from my Prelim task to my Full Product

Skill Development Since my prelim task, I have become more comfortable using Photoshop. This has helped me produce my magazine. This has helped me in a number of ways: The use of newly learnt features meant that I could add more to my magazine and use more complex effects to give my magazine a better appearance. One of example of this was, darkening the main image whilst bringing the contrast and brightness levels up to make the model stand out more from the background. Better understanding of previously used features meant I knew how to use them without the need of assistance and sped up the process of creating my magazine, as I knew what to do. For example I knew how to crop my model from the background, so I was able to edit the background of the image without affecting the model. Guidance through the programme. As I was more comfortable with the layout of the programme, this helped to speed up the process, as I knew where everything was and where to find the tools I needed. An example of this, is I knew where to find the tool for blur my images background, adding a stroke to my text and also applying a colour overlay to it.

Hardware Development Since the prelim, I have a greater knowledge of magazine conventions, which was important when it came to using the camera to take pictures for the magazine. This includes: lighting, rule of thirds, location etc. These were put to use when I took my photos. I tried to use well lit areas so my picture was of good quality and the model was easily visible. When I took the photo, I used rule of thirds to help position the model in convention with other magazines. I also took the pictures in more quiet locations, to try and avoid as many people as I could. Many times pictures had to be retaken, due to people being in shot etc., or if lighting was poor. Industry Since my prelim I have learned what the conventions are when producing a magazine. For example: colour choice, font choice, rule of thirds, cover lines, masthead and so on. Many of these conventions have been put in place when I produced my own magazine. Many magazines also follow these conventions, this is shown when I compared my magazine to XXL magazine.
