Demisting the Cloud

19th March 2014, Satellite Catapult Centre, at Harwell Campus near Didcot Oxfordshire, Directions Red Skies Group in conjunction with the WRc presents an exploration day for cloud services for utility companies. The morning will comprise of a series of short presentations on different aspects of cloud technology. The afternoon will start with a summary of delegate perspectives and will conclude with a tour of the Satellite Applications Catapult. The event is aimed at asset information managers, network managers and strategic decision makers in the water industry.

Urban Water project: Introduction to the EC framework 7 project that is developing a cloud hosted suite of utility applications. Securing Data: Introducing SODA, the secure data platform used to power the Urban Water project. What exactly is cloud computing? Debunking misconceptions and introducing public, private and hybrid cloud computing options.

Data privacy and security: a look at where the security risks are in a smart water installation, and a comparison between different types of security approach Big Data: a look at the data across a water network, how it can be stored, secured, managed and analysed. Smart Systems: A look at the smart water systems in the middle-east and Asia.
