English 10 Prewriting project - How important are credible sources?

For this project, your four member team will use a list I have selected from Listverse. This is a list of ten quotes that everyone gets wrong! The purpose of this project if for you to understand how easy it is for misinformation to be presented as fact, and therefore how important it is to have proper, credible sources when you write. In addition, this project will give you practice in validating sources and citing them using MLA format. Objectives: You will demonstrate your understanding of the consequences of misquotation by researching one quote segment. You will collaborate with your team to display your research in a team presentation. You will validate one outside source pertaining to your quote and include it in your quote segment. You will improve your MLA formatting skills by citing properly referenced sources in your quote segment.

Directions:
As a team: Open the list at Listverse and review the quotes one by one. Click on all the hyperlinks and explore the references attached. Each team member should choose one quote to research. The team should decide how to do the team presentation, by Prezi, PowerPoint, Spicynodes, Google presentations, etc. It would be a good idea if using a program with templates that the team pick one. The team should choose an editor to smooth the overall look of the presentation and ask for edits if necessary. The team should write introduction and conclusion segments to the presentation. The team will give their presentation together to the class. Each individual: Each member is responsible for researching, creating and presenting You may do another if your quote warrants an additional segment but do no more than 2. In your segment of the presentation, include the quote and answer the following questions: Who it is attributed to? How was it attributed to them?

his or her quote and research presentation segment using the presentation program chosen by the team.
