Felix Garcia Mr.Medina Humanities M7 1-29-14 An example of struggle is not having a job or not getting a good education.

Some may discuss that struggle is positive. Its good because when you struggle you learn from that. Others think that struggle is not good. Much writing has been offered on this topic. This essay will argue that even through what some consider, struggle is multidimensonal and has implications that can hurt us. Stuggles are multimensional. We find this in the book Breaking Throught. For example, one of the struggles Panchito experiences is undocumented. The result of Panchitos struggles are fear and deported. Some examples from the text that provide evidence of this situation is like, If la migra catches you, youll be send back to Mexico(pg.2).Also I feared, being caught by the border Patrol(pg.2). lastly As I got older, my fear of being deported grew(pg.2). As you can see struggles are multidimensional.

Along the lines of struggle being multidimensional we can also examine its implications. (See figure 2) Once again using Breaking Through Panchito struggles with Poverty. Poverty affects Panchitos personal life, home, education and health. There are examples from the book that show the implications of poverty. One

example is when in the story says Every summer and miss school for two and a half month to pick up grapes and cotton (pg.3), This tells that doesnt go to school a lot. The immigration officers, who towered over everyone, searched the ranch for undocumented residents (pg.6), this shows that the immigration officers were looking for more people. We struggled to make ends meet, especially during winter when work was scarce (pg.2), and lastly Panchito and Roberto go to Santa Maria, and the rest of the family goes to Guadalajara (pg.16). This shows how poverty affected his home, health, education and personal life and how they live with out their parents, so this are examples of how poverty affects his life.

In addition to the book Breaking Through there are implications of poverty, poverty affects classism or how people are treated. For example, (Underconstruction), Money is power and the rich are in charge. This shows that people that are rich they show that their in charge or their better, Another example of classism and how the poor are treated is, (Bill Gates), If youre born poor, its not your mistake, but if you die poor, its your mistake. This shows that if youre born poor you can work and get better when you grow up and have a good life. The last example is, Gregory Nunn, It is harder for a poor man to be successful than it is for a rich man. this shows that poor man are treated worst and its harder for them to be successful and for a rich man is easier to be successful. So these how poverty affects classism or how people are treated according to Breaking Through.

In addition to the book Breaking Through there are implications of health, Health affects peoples life. For example, Kurtzleben, Danielle. The study also showed that diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart attacks were slightly more likely to afflict those in poverty than those who are not. This shows that people that are poor they have more things like diabetes etc, compared to people that are not poor. Also Poor children have increased infant mortality; more frequent and severe chronic diseases such as asthma; poorer nutrition and growth; less access to quality health care; lower immunization rates; and increased obesity and its complications According to, Poverty Threatens Health of U.S. Childrens. Lastly Poverty takes a significant tool. One major consideration is diet and availability of food. The typical North American diet has shifted heavily to high-fat intakes, and poorer people tend to satisfy their caloric needs with high-fat fast foods, this results in obesity and a propensity to heart disease an cancer. This shows that People that are poor can get problems like cancer etc easier than other people and they can get fat easier.

Not only there are implications of health, we also see it with education. Education affects peoples life, because with education you can get to go to collage or things like that. In the book Breaking Through there are a lot of examples of education. A quote or example of education is (Confucius), It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop. This shows that id you are old or not a kid and you are not educated you can still educate yourself. Another example is

(Mahatma Gandhi), Live as you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. This tells that you can live your life how ever you want, learn more every day so you can educate more yourself. Lastly, (Nelson Mandela), Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. This means that education is one of the more important things no matter what. All this shows how poverty can affect education, but that education is really important.

In addition to Breaking Through, There are implications of how poverty affects treatment. A example of how poverty affects treatment is, (Oswald), If you dont treat yourself like number one, then others will treat you like number two. This tells that if you dont treat yourself how you have to nobody is going to treat you good. Another example is (JuuuuuusssTTTTTT),How you treat others is indirect way of saying how you feel about yourself. This shows that some people treat people bad, because that how they treat them and they do the same thing. Lastly is (sz), Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked. Respect is earned not given. This is saying that if you want to be treated good, you have to treat people the way you want to be treated. This shows that poverty affects treatment because if you are poor you have you have to work and treat people good so they can help you too or treat you good.

In addition to the Book Breaking Through, there are examples of living conditions. A example is (Bill Gates), If you are born poor is not your mistake, but if you die poor its definitely your mistake. This shows that you can be poor but you

work ad get better. Another example of living conditions is (Flora Whittemore), The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live. This is saying that there are options that can make you live better or have a better life. Lastly is (Dalaj Lama), The purpose of our life is to be happy. This shows that no matter what are the conditions that you live you have to be happy with what you have. All this shows how poverty affects living conditions and how poor can you live but you have to be happy with what you have in your life.

In summary, this essay has shown that poverty can affect peoples life a lot, poverty can affect health, education, treatment and living conditions. Some may argue that poverty is good for you. It makes you work harder and learn from that because you learn to live with out money and clothes etc. This could be true but I believe that is not because some people can even die because they dont have a place to live or stay at night, because of its affects things about people like health, education, treatment and living conditions.

Poverty is not the only struggle that has negative implications; racism is just as negative. Racism is the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races, (http://freedictionary.org/?Query=racism&button=Search). In other words racism is when people make fun of other people or call them names just because they have different skin color or they are from another place etc. Some people think that that fun but is not because people can feel bad or sad about it, some people

have come to the point of killing their self because they make fun of them about how they are.

There are racism found in Breaking Through. For example when the parents of Peggy discriminate Panchito, Are you Spanish? I detected a strong accent, after a strong silence his wife nodded her head, this shows that they didnt like him because he was Mexican. Another example of racism in Breaking Through is about his food, Chili stopper and tamale wrapper, this tells that they make fun of him because he eat taquitos for lunch. Lastly is the teachers, We also have a class for future farmers, in this sentence the teachers are saying that to him because he use to work in the fields and they are like making fun of him for that. All this shows how they use racism and how it affects Panchito in the book Breaking Through.

The movie, 42, about the Jackie Robinson story shows examples of racism. One of the examples of the movie 42, is when Jackies wife goes to the bathroom and in the door it has a paper that says white and in the other one says black. This shows that they dont want black and white people together so they make different bathrooms. Another example of racism and implications in the movie is when they treat white people better then black people. This tells that they like more the white people. Lastly is when they dont let Jackie and his wife go to the airplane just because their skin color. All this shows racism that is in the movie in the movie 42.

In the movie 42 there are implications of racism. The first example is when he is in a baseball game and a lot of people start calling him black or nigger, then he gets mad and he brakes a baseball bat and he starts crying. This tells that he doesnt like when they call him like that and he gets sad or angry. Another example of implications of racism in the movie 42 is when the pitcher of the other team throws the ball at Robinsons face and he gets mad and they all start fighting. This shows that they dont want him to play with them that they hate him and that makes him sad, and all this makes violence in every game. All this makes him feel like an outsider and makes him feel fear from everyone else.

Not only has J.Robinson experienced racism and its implications, but it has happened to me, my parents and my friends. The first example is when one I was playing soccer with my friends and other people that we didnt know, we have a friend that is black and he plays with us, and when we were playing the other people start calling him names because he was black and he played soccer and then my friend started crying because the call him black. This tells that my friend doesnt like when they call him black or nigger. Another example is when we were playing soccer again and some people that we didnt know start kicking my friend because he is Colombian and because he was better then them. This shows that they didnt like to play with him because he was Columbian and not Mexican. Lastly is when a long time ago like 2 years ago I was walking with my friends and then some black people or kids wanted to fight with us because they said that we were looking at them. This shows that they just wanted to fight with us because we are Mexicans or I

dont know why but they just wanted to fight. All this shows that not only Robinson and Panchito have implications of racism.

In contrast to all I have shared, Kelly Mcfonial provides an opposing perspective. Stress makes you better sometimes, because when youre stressed and you star breathing faster you get more air to your brain and you start thinking more. Another example of how stress is good for you or your friend is because when you are stressed you believe in your body or on you. Lastly is that if you think that stress is not going to harm you makes you feel better. I think that stress in bad for you because maybe people can die or something, you can also feel bad or worried when youre stressed.
