Genocide is the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.

The Holocaust
The Holocaust was genocide committed towards the Jewish people during WWII.

A swastika was adopted by Adolf Hitler as the official Nazi symbol during WWII

Adolf Hitler
Adolph Hitler was the leader of the Nazi party.

The Gestapo
The Gestapo was the German state secret police during the Nazi regime, notorious for their brutal methods.

The SS
The SS was an elite unit of the Nazi party that served as Hitlers bodyguard and special forces.

A Kapo
A Kapo was a Nazi concentration camp prisoner who was given privileges in return for supervising prisoner work gangs. They were often common criminals and brutal to inmates.

Allies
Allies are those countries who fought against Nazi Germany. Main allies were the US, Great Britain and the Soviet Union.

Anti-semitism
Anti-semitism is the hostility toward Jews just because they are Jewish.

Concentration camps
Hitler forced Jews into concentration camps after ghettos. In concentration camps, Jews were either killed or they worked as slaves for the Nazis.

A ghetto A ghetto was a run down section of the city where Jews were forced to live. They were fenced in and often struck with disease. These ghettos lacked food, water, and living space.

Persecution
Persecution is harassing someone; a lot of times done to people who have a different religion or social outlook.

Aryan Race
Hitler believed that Germans were superior to others; Hitler called Germans the Aryan race; Hitler often described this as the superior race as having blonde hair and blue eyes.

Jewish
The Jewish people are a ethnoreligious group, which is a group of people unified by a common religious background.

Propaganda
Propaganda is used to force something upon an entire group of people. Hitler used propaganda to turn Germans against Jews.
