LATE Victorian Era (1837-1901) Presenter: Sandra, Julien Script: Katia, Jennifer Industrial Revolution: The context for why the Mystery Genre became popularized Brought people from farms (agriculture) to the cities (industrialization) People were drawn to the cities because of job opportunities Too many people came pouring in at once (overpopulation, not enough resources to support everyone) Overpopulation led to high crime rates--hence, the interest in crime/police/detectives Social Order: Hierarchy, rich get away with everything, large clustered lower class Thus, the Holmes stories present a view of the socioeconomic context of the late Victorian era Emergence of police and criminology to make justice more fair Logic vs. the Supernatural Belief in the Supernatural: seances, spirits, ghosts The Age of Reason began to overtake the Age of Religion/Superstition Doyle disproves the supernatural (theres a scientific explanation for everything)-this attitude was the popular attitude in the late Victorian Era

CAST OF CHARACTERS Narrator - Meghan Detective - Tyler Sidekick - Mossab Client - Sandra Dead Body - Julien Villain- Dakari Police SCENE 1 Dakari and Meghan Holmes and Watson are at Baker Street (2 min) Writer: Roland They are having their morning coffee, Watson spots the phone Holmes asks Watson what facts he can deduce from Coach Jessicas phone that was left behind. Watson deduces: Her wallpaper is a picture of her daughter cheerleading as a kid. (cheering for years) There are a lot of dents that shows that she drops her phone a lot. (shes clumsy) Holmes deduces/corrects him: Watson is correct about the dents. Her wallpaper is actually a picture of herself, vanity. Props (Meg): - 2 chairs, coffee mugs - Background for screen - 1 table - Cell phone SCENE 2 Roland and Amber A client arrives Writer: Amber Cheerleading Coach Name: Tiffany Stapleton Appearance: tall, fit, black hair with bow in it, late 20s Personality: outgoing, conceited Only reason she is concerned about the death of mascot is because no one wants to be the mascot anymore since they keep dying, needs a mascot for her team. Mrs. Hudson: Introduces Tiffany Props: Jennifer will bring a Track uniform for Sandra

SCENE 3 Carlos, Meg, and Jingyao Holmes deduces things about the client from an object or the person herself (3-4 minutes) Writer: Alfredo She comes in with a purse and a dog in it dirty shows that shes very filthy scratched up, has signs that it was thrown on the floor designer bag very expensive, possibly a gift dog is aggressive towards others the owner shows no regard if it bites other people bite marks on the side of the purse Props (Carlos): - Fake dog in a purse. SCENE 4 Jennifer, Katia, and Sally The problem is outlined (the case is presented) (3-4 minutes) Writer: Katia, Sally The client and her daughter tell Holmes about the death of her son, the mascot. The last two people who have put on the mascot costume have died while wearing it xx When the head of the anteater is removed from the victim, their face is pale and their eyes are dilated. Props (Jennifer): Face paint - white, blue, black Picture of mascot costume on screen SCENE 5 Mossab and Tyler - (1-2 min.) Holmes and Watson discuss the case when the client is gone Writer: Mossab, Tyler Watson says something obvious, not insightful. Watson tells Holmes that Peter probably got ill because of the pesticides that were sprayed in Aldrich Park. Holmes deduces that it is not the pesticides, and that something else is happening.

SCENE 6 Henry, Jonathan, and Ivy The investigation begins The crime scene Writer: Holmes and Watson go to Student Center to investigate

Peter is dead Student center-Peter gets sick, sits down, and falls to the ground. Clues (Jingyao): Lucky Charms, Anteater suit, witnesses, note, inhaler Possible suspects: the person who gave peter the lucky charms, the cheerleading coach(his mom), His sister, His roommate, natural causes(his asthma) Props (Jonathan & Ivy): - Anteater costume -Asthma inhaler (Julien) - Plates and cups INTERLUDE: WE ASK THE OTHER CLASS TO SOLVE THE CASE

SCENE 7 Julien and Sandra Holmes identifies what happened Writer: Anteater was poisoned by _______ Identifies both poison and murder (his sister) Suspect gets arrested Props: An anteater costume SCENE 8 Carolina and Alfredo Holmes explains it all to Watson back at Baker Street. Writer: Carolina A few weeks after the case has been solved, Holmes and Watson are having their morning coffee and discussing the concluded case. Holmes explains that the killer was the victims sister She was jealous of her brother because she is adopted and her mother favors him over her.
