Evaluation: Arch Constructions/ Arch research

Students will extend their knowledge of arches to create their own arches for buildings Students will investigate ancient Rome arches using an information sheet, and finely tune their researching abilities

Materials: Elmo Document Camera Arches and Concrete in Ancient Rome Information Styrofoam cups and Construction paper Crayons, Markers, Colored Pencils Scissors Glue Pencils Highlighters Magic Tree House Rome book

Procedures: 1. I will have student helpers pass out the information on arches 2. I will review research techniques and highlighting techniques with students (AKA do not highlight everything) 3. Students will read the questions then find the answers in the passage and highlight that.

4. I will answer the first question with them on the Elmo Doc. to model how they need to answer it. 5. After students complete the research sheet I will introduce the arches project 6. Students will create a 2-dimensional Roman building and then create 3dimensional arches to glue on the 2-Dimensional building. 7. Show students models from last years students 8. Students will be allowed to work on their project when they have extra time, and may continue working on it next class.
